Questions
How does Snap translate a menu?
Open Snap and use the Translation tab, which is the camera. Pick the language of the menu and the language you read, then hold the phone over the menu. The translation is drawn over the printed text, and you can tap Pause to freeze the view.
Does it work without internet?
Text from the camera can be translated without a connection once you download the language pair in the language picker. Automatic language detection needs a connection.
Can Snap translate a screenshot or a PDF?
Yes. Tap Pick a photo to translate the text in a screenshot or saved photo from your library. Snap also translates a PDF or a scanned document and exports the translation as a PDF.
Can I rely on it for medicine or allergies?
Snap is not a certified translator and translations can contain mistakes. Check a medicine label with a pharmacist, and ask restaurant staff to confirm anything about allergies.
